Gift Cards Galore!

Updated: Apr 3, 2019

Gift card stacking is a great way to save money. There are multiple websites that offer discounted gift cards and when you go to those gift card sites through a cash back site, you can save even more. Some gift cards I can use directly to save on my Disney trip and others are to save on things I buy regularly that I can save on things I buy normally and I can put the savings towards Disney. You can also add to your savings by using a credit card that gives cash back or rewards on purchases.

These are my favorite gift card sites:

Raise (use my link for a free $5 off your first purchase): This site offeres discount gift cards anywhere from 1-61% off. They also give great bonus opportunities regularly. Click through the Top Cashback site to earn cash back on your purchase!

Cardpool: This site also has discounted gift cards for up to 35% off. This site occasionally offers extra bonuses, but not as much as Raise. Another drawback is that it can take a while to get your gift cards through Cardpool, while they are almost instant through Raise. However, if you can wait a bit, sometimes they have better availability and prices. Click through the Top Cashback site to earn cash back on your purchase!

Gift Cards for Daily purchases:

I am now trying to get discounted gift cards for everyday use, not just Disney. This is allowing me to save on things like restaurants we visit often, clothing purchases, household purchases (even groceries!). Though it may be a few dollars here and there, it is a help!

Here's an example of how I used gift cards for non-Disney purchases: I wanted to buy some books for my son. He's not a huge reader, so when he said he was excited about a book series, I jumped on it! I was able to find a Barnes and Noble gift card for 17% off on Cardpool. I clicked through Top Cashback, which offers 2% cash back on Cardpool purachese, to buy that card, so my $25 gift card is down to $20.33. Then I can use Shop Smarter for 10% off my purchase at Barnes and Noble. If my purchase is $25, I will earn $2.50 cash back, taking my total paid to $17.83. That saves me a total of $7.17 or almost 29%! And that's just a small example. If you are buying larger things or in larger quantities, you can get some awesome deals. Any money that I get back through my cash back sites goes to my Disney trip, and if I am really wanting to save up, I will save the total percentage that I saved. These small amounts can really add up.

Gift Cards for Disney-related purchases:

Target: If you open a Target Red Card (debit or credit) you can get 5% off Disney gift cards any time in store or online. The not so great part is that you can't stack cards anymore at Target. Customers used to be able to use Target cards to pay for Disney gift cards in store, but they closed that loophole and now you just get your straight 5%. It's not the best option, but it's not bad either!

Walmart and Sam's: Both of these stores accept Walmart gift cards and allow you to buy Disney gift cards with their store gift cards. This allows you to stack up some savings. If you can find a Walmart card on Raise and click through Top Cashback, you could already be saving 5 or more percent on your gift card. Sam's offers gift cards at 4% off or so every day if you are a club member. You can purchase cards online or in store with your (already discounted) gift cards. If possible when I cash out on some of my cash back sites/apps, I get Walmart gift cards and use them at Sam's. A little tip is to look closely at which cards have the best discount. Currently, the $150 pack is 4.7% off, but the $500 cards are only 3% off.

Dosh and Sam's: Another option is to use the cash back app Dosh (click for a free $5 when you sign up and link a card!) and your credit or debit card at Sam's. Dosh offers 2% cash back on Sam's offers every day, but sometimes they run specials for up to 8% cash back. That on top of their already discounted Disney gift cards can really add up. You can also get any credit card rewards available to you with the card you use.

Kroger: Kroger has offers occasionally that allow for 4x fuel points on the purchase of gift cards. The best deal is to use a discounted Kroger gift card (if you can find one!) then to buy Disney gift cards from the store for rewards. I found that with for me, this deal comes out to about a 5% savings for just having one car that I can use the rewards for. If you have several cars and will be able to fill them both up at once to use the discount to the fullest, it will be higher!

Best Buy: If you use Swagbucks (this link gives you a free $3 to start), you can use a QR code available from time to time to shop in store at Best Buy for up to 13.5% off of your Disney gift cards. Some Best Buy stores allow you to use discounted gift cards, but not all. I'm not close to a Best Buy, so this isn't one I can use often, since you can only do one purchase per day and get the cashback. If I'm in a town with a Best Buy, I use this method to buy a gift card. Buy a $100 card for the best savings!

Whether you get 5% off or a lot more, any of these methods will bring down the cost of a Disney trip! I have always had great success with Target and with Sam's online with discounted gift cards. If I happen to be in Kroger when they're having their gift card deal, I buy cards there too sometimes. There are so many ways to save, and understanding gift cards is a great place to start!
