Ode to Swagbucks

Updated: Apr 13, 2019

I started using Swagbucks about a year ago but it hasn't been until the last few months that I REALLY started to get into it and now I wish that I had figured it out a long time ago! I posted about Swagbucks in my Cashback Sites 101 post, but I think it deserves its own explanation!

Swagbucks has been the most consistent cash back site for me, which is another reason that I kick myself for not starting sooner! I use it to make money in several ways.

Money Makers- These are offers that are on Swagbucks that will give you more money back in rewards than what you pay for an offer. Usually these are subscriptions that must be cancelled or you will NOT be saving money, but set an alert on your phone and cancel before you get charged and you will get your Swagbucks credit. I have gotten shoes, meal boxes, given donations, and lots more this way, all while making money. These are usually where the big pay outs come from on Swagbucks.

Shopping- Swagbucks gives cash back at a lot of different websites when you shop online. Sometimes the returns are really great and sometimes they aren't, so I don't only use Swagbucks if another site has a better return, but sometimes it works well (like 10% off Disney shirts on Jane.com and 8% off hotels on Priceline).

Surveys- This is what I have really adjusted in my Swagbucks use lately. I can't (and shouldn't!) spend money online all the time, but I can participate in surveys that pay anywhere from a few cents to hundreds of dollars (I haven't been lucky enough to get one of these yet, but they are out there!). I average around $1 for a survey. These small amounts add up and you can do as many as you want per day.

Bonuses- There are bonuses for all kinds of things on Swagbucks. There's free money for just making Swagbucks throughout the month, bonuses on surveys sometimes, bonuses for friends who sign up with your code, and more!

The best current Swagbucks deal for Disney gift cards is through Best Buy. You can get a QR code through Swagbucks that can be scanned in the store. If you buy a $100 gift card, you can get 2% cash back (just down from 3% :( ) plus a $7.50 bonus, for a total of 9.5% off. This is a great deal for gift cards!

What do you do with "Swagbucks"? You can cash out your Swagbucks for gift cards. I cash out when I reach $25 for Walmart gift cards, which I then turn around and use at Sam's Club for Disney gift cards, since I can get those at a discount on those! You can also cash them out for Paypal giftcards that can be transferred to your bank account and lots of other gift cards for restaurants, stores, and theaters. If you're not saving for something special, using them for groceries would be a great way to do it!

I have upped my Swagbucks returns to at least $25 per week, so around $100 per month. If I keep this up all year, I'll have at least an extra $1200!

I suggest searching for Swagbucks groups on Facebook who will give some tips sometimes on good deals on Swagbucks so you don't miss anything. I will post these sometimes on the blog as well to keep you informed of great Swagbucks deals!
